What is Sky Dragon Studio?
Stories have power.
A powerful story can change the trajectory of our lives: of what we think is important and can even help us decide what to do with the rest of our lives.
With this in mind, we craft stories that inspire, encourage, uplift, challenge, embolden, and excite. They are stories that are wholly fun to read and that you don’t have to worry about whether it will impact you negatively. You can just read and enjoy to relax and to escape from the troubles of the world.
Stories helped me in my darkest seasons of life. When I felt unloved, unwanted, uncared for. When I had no friends and it felt like no one heard me, stories were what reached me. They gave me hope that there was a future, that there were good things, and that I was not trapped. I want to provide that for others and provide a space for others to share stories like that for others. That is what Sky Dragon Studios is about.

I’ve been working on stories since as far back as I can remember. I remember when I must’ve been five, I made my first ‘book’ which was a book about dinosaurs made out of finger paints. Since then, I’ve written whenever I get the chance. Writing comics, short stories, taking walks to think about the next story idea or mull over an old one. I even dream in stories that sometimes then become inspirations for new ideas!
I studied film and TV production at the University of Arizona, made a documentary in China with a local university through the Looking China program, and have spent the past 10+ years dedicating my life to improving my art, increasing my experience, and building connections.
Ultimately I hope to make storytelling my primary business and to also help others tell stories as well!

I see Christian content on your website, is Sky Dragon Studio a Christian film studio?
No. While occasionally we will produce Christian-specific content, we are not a “Christian film studio” in that we don’t just make films and content that is for Christians. In fact, while there might be the occasional Christian-specific story, we share stories of all kinds.
However, there’s no hiding the fact, nor do I wish to, that I (Kaylah) am a Christian and take that very seriously. However, I don’t want to produce Christian stories. Sky Dragon Studio was created to make some of the best stories out there both content and quality-wise, which isn’t specific to a genre. I’d argue saying I make Christian content is like saying that because I’m a woman, I should make woman-only films!
So while some of the stories are made for Christians, most are not and it is SDS’s vision to primarily focus on well-told stories, not on Christian stories.

What does "high-end content" mean?
It means our goal is to create peerless art and storytelling. We aim to really polish our work so that the stories are focused less on getting content out there, and more on making good content. Of course, good content is often a byproduct of creating a lot, but Sky Dragon Studio was created to be like old Pixar or Ghibli films, where when you watch or read our stories, you know there was a lot of heart, thought, and skill put into every single one. We don’t have the same pressure other studios have to push out content, so we focus on quality rather than quantity.

Why is there Christian content on your website then?
Just because we’re not a Christian studio doesn’t mean we can’t create content that is Christian specific. It’s just not something we want to be making often!

How do you make money and how can I support you?
We make money from ads when you click on our comics and stories, our store where we sell various kinds of swag, and from subscribership! At the moment, we only have a few products and a few options on how to subscribe, but hopefully we will be able to give more options in the future!
